Kingscliff Soccer Club ended a successful 2011 season with a bang – literally.
Under the support of new president Craig Long and his dedicated team, the club decided to jazz up their usual junior presentation day.
This year it featured all the fun of the fair with free rides on dodgems, bouncy castles, hurricanes and giant slides as well as sideshow alley and show bags. There were also traditional games like giant soccer and sack races and, of course, plenty of food and trophies. The night ended with a spectacular fireworks display.
Long said he hoped to run more events like this in the future – giving more back to the members and the community.
But while it was a fun day for all the families at the heart of it was still the presentations for each team – with every one getting a trophy.
Big winners for the day were Dylan Harrison – named junior referee of the year and George Saunders who took out the junior clubman. Despite being injured and unable to play all year, George was a regular fixture at the club – in the canteen or helping anywhere he could.
The club will hold its senior presentation in the next few weeks and is looking to run coaching and six-a-side events during the off season.
