Dreaming of a modern love story

A sophisticated production of Shakespeare’s classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream, originally presented in 2009 to a soldout season, rave reviews and crowds in stitches, is playing in the Paradise Showroom from Thursday, October 6.
Following extraordinary success at Belvoir St Theatre, this hilarious and urban revision of the favourite Shakespearian comedy is now on its National Australian Tour and the Gold Coast gets three chances to experience this amazing production, before it moves on to the next city.
Director Eamon Flack has turned this famous classic into a grand, decadent and heartrending celebration – a party unfolding on stage, shot through with karaoke ballads and comedy.
“This play is a vivid reminder of what it’s like to fall in love for the first time – the hope, pain, thrill, extreme amazement, profound confusion, awful misunderstanding and brilliant aliveness – that’s why we’ve been putting this play on  for 400 years and still haven’t got enough of it,” Eamon said.
