Soccer club celebrates

Tweed Valley Kings mentor Craig Madden has been honoured by Gold Coast Soccer, following an outstanding year.
The Kings coach was named Gold Coast Premier League’s Coach of the Year after steering his side to second place from the relegation zone in just one year.
It was a successful night for the Kings, with Luke Morley being named Premier League Coaches’ Player of  the Year, with Jade Bianchetti winning the same title in the First Division Women’s competition.
Madden and his team will be up for more honours at the Tweed Valley Kings/Kingscliff Wolves presentation night at Coolangatta Hotel on Friday night.
Kingscliff president Craig Long said, as they did with the juniors, Kingscliff is aiming to end the year on a high note.
“It promises to be a spectacular night,” he said.
Mr Long said it would be a fitting end to what had been the Kings’ most successful year.
He said scooping three major awards at the Gold Coast Awards had capped off the season – a season which saw the Kings win the Women’s First Division Premiership and make it through to the grand final and finish second in the Men’s Premiership by just one point, making it through to the finals.
He said, after struggling to stay in the top flight previously, the club had now been able to stay in the top flight for three years and prove themselves as “one of the prominent clubs” on the Gold Coast.
Given their success, Long said both top flight coaches, Craig Madden in premier league and women’s mentor Belinda Dawney had both already been re-appointed for next season.
