With a 20-knot south westerly chopping up the water and eight sailboats vying for position, Sunday promised to be an exciting day for a sail. So began the Tweed Valley Sailng Club’s race day, with catamarans and sailboats alike all competing for the lead as they sailed downriver from Fingal and back up round Barney’s Point bridge. This is the club’s 10th race day, with the club numbers growing rapidly since its inception in January this year. Meeting at the old Boat Harbour at Fingal each month, the race days are proving to be very popular with experienced and novice sailors alike. The next race day is scheduled for October 23 and a meet-the-club day on November 6 at 12 o’clock.
