The pathways leading to the GW Mclennan stage were shut down on the Saturday when The Jezabels executed their set at Splendour In The Grass – there was just too much traffic.
Those who did make it in were treated to one of the greatest sets of their career.
Having spent a good deal of 2011 touring overseas in the UK, USA, Europe, Canada and Singapore, The Jezabels have returned to stages here at home in October to launch their debut LP Prisoner (which was released in stores independently through MGM September 16).
Powerful, poetic, bold and pure, Prisoner is the first full-length release from the Sydney based quartet.
It’s a stunning collection of songs that showcases maturity in song writing, well beyond their young years.
Recorded mostly in The Attic Studio in Sydney, the band have continued their relationship with long-time producer Lachlan Mitchell, the man behind their first three EPs.
The album has been mixed by Peter Katis (Jonsi, The National, Interpol) at Tarquin Studio, Connecticut and mastered by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound, New York.
The Jezabels are joined on tour by Newfoundland-based, indie-orchestral-pop rockers Hey Rosetta!
Recently here to support fellow countryman City and Colour, they came together in 2005 and have earned numerous accolades (including being shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize) and a reputation for incendiary live performances.
Triple J Unearthed favourites Alpine round out the touring party with their bright, colourful fusion of indie synth pop with dreamy, hypnotic rhythms, luscious harmonies and beats.
