Babalou restaurant Kingscliff was full of chatter about everything from Botox to true love and absolutely everything in between, as acclaimed author Kaz Cooke came to town to talk about her new book ‘Women’s Stuff’.
A crowd of more than 60 ladies and two men enjoyed Cooke’s funny, informative and interesting chat about her book – the natural follow-up to such as Up The Duff, Kidwrangling and Girl Stuff. The event was presented by Kingscliff bookshop Boardwalk Books last Friday night.
“It’s not a bossy or shouty ‘guide to how to live your life’,” she told the audience.
“It’s more like having a best friend in the cupboard who knows everything about everything – so you can consult it for independent advice whether you’re wondering if you’re really in love and he’s the one to whether your shampoo is ruining the environment, what Botox actually does to you, how to find a job, or leave one and how to cope with feeling down, how to get more sleep, win a wrestle with troublesome hormones, or what to do if you find a lump in your breast.”
The book was written in extensive consultation with more than 100 medical, psychological and other practical experts and informed by more than 7000 real women who responded to an on-line survey.
The event was the second time Babalou and Boardwalk have teamed up to present a top Australia author with the two businesses playing host to former Prime Minister John Howard last month.
Deb Allen of Boardwalk said she had at least two more literary events planned in coming weeks.
