The seventh annual Salt Surf Lifesaving Club Sportsman’s Lunch attracted a big crowd last Friday afternoon.
More than 260 people headed to the Salt Bar south of Kingscliff for the annual event – the major fundraiser for the Salt Surf Livesavers.
The lunch included of lot of raffles and, while club officials are still in the process of finalising the exact amount raised, the day itself has already been declared a success.
The highlight of the afternoon were the guest speakers – Queensland State of Origin Legend, Queensland coach and former Maroochydore Nipper Mal Meninga and AFL legend Sam “the lamb-man” Kekovich. Meninga, calling himself “Sam’s warm-up” act, and Kekovich kept the crowd in stitches.
As well as the guest speakers, the event included an auction of a wide range of sports memorabilia.
