Pottsville Beach Public School is running over with athletics stars following an amazing performance at the NSW PSSA championships in Sydney last week.
They were one of the best represented at the titles held on the Sydney Olympics warm-up track.
Nine students from the school made it through to the titles including eight boys and a girl – of course it doesn’t hurt when both your senior and junior boys’ relay teams make it to battle it out with the best in the state.
The junior boys’ side made the finals of the relay, but a slip of the baton proved costly and they finished out of the medals, despite finishing second in both their heat and semi-final and being 3rd fastest qualifier for the final.
The senior boys were third in their heat and made it through to the finals.
Hana led the way in the individual events with a second in the long jump, second in the discus and third in the 100ms.
Sam Murray made the final of the 100m individual event in his age group after winning his heat and finishing second in his final. He also qualified in the long jump, while Max represented in the 100m, finishing third in the semis and fifth in the final. Sam Lee also represented in the 100m with a sixth in the heat and 5th in the semi.
