Gold Coast-based radio station Sea FM has been running a “Joke Off” around local schools for the past few months and last week they crossed the border to hear just how funny the kids of the Tweed Coast are.
Breakfast personality Paul Gale stopped by and recorded a group of the Terranora Public School students telling their best jokes.
“Galey” said it had been a very popular segment on the station’s breakfast show but Terranora is the first NSW school to join in the fun, although he’s hoping they won’t be the last.
“Ten years ago when I was working in Adelaide at SA F. The station did something very similar and I thought it might be a good idea to bring to the Gold Coast,” he said.
“This is our first NSW school but we are really pleased to be down here.
“If there are any other schools that want to be a part of it, then they can just contact us.”
Three kids a day are heard telling their favourite joke on the station each day and, thanks to the response of the Terraranora kids, we should be hearing them telling jokes for the next two weeks.
“The students have come up with so many great jokes that we are typing them all up and illustrating them to make a book that students can borrow from the library,” Terranora Library teacher Janice Edwards said.
