The top of the table clash in the New England Mutual Premier League between the Demon Knights and Oxley Vale Attunga was expected to be a closely fought encounte. However, it appeared that OVA had the mid-season blues, putting in a lack lustre performance against a red hot DK side who won the game 3-2.
Team veteran Chris Daley had an outstanding game for DK, producing the standout goal reminiscent of David Beckham and his famous “bend it like Beckham”. Chris Daly’s stunning shot looked from the outset to just miss the goal, but curved at the last minute, fooling the goal keeper, to hit its mark in the top right corner of the goal.
Demon Knights were on fire, dominating possession and field position, putting OVA under huge pressure throughout the game.
The win puts Demon Knight at the top of the table on 28 points, with North Armidale on 27, Oxley Vale Attunga 25, Joeys FC 16, Tamworth FC 14, South Armidale United 13, East Armidale United 13, North Companions 11, Gunnedah United 11 and UNE FC 7.
