Earlier this year, a new group formed on the Tweed Coast – a new group that is slowly making its presence felt.
The Cabarita Beach/Pottsville Leos club is an off-shoot of the highly successful Lions Club and they are starting to get just as involved in the community as their older counterparts.
Club president Calvin Lees said Leos currently has more than a dozen young members.
Leos are the junior chapter of the Lions club and members are aged 12-28, although the majority of the Tweed Coast members are 14-17.
Calvin said the club was formed in January and had already been busy raising money for local charities from the Neighbourhood Centre to the Bushfire Brigade, with barbecues and face painting.
This Sunday will be their next big challenge – a car wash outside the Pottsville Bushfire Brigade headquarters in Centennial Drive. Action starts at 8.30am.
