Spreading happiness

When Beach Shack owner  Josie Masterman asked if she could take a picture of a baby enjoying her first ice-cream, she didn’t know what she was starting.
She put it on the wall as a nice picture to brighten up the small shop.
Now, a year later, the wall at The Beach Shack Espresso Juice and Icecream shop at Kingscliff has become a bit of a tourist attraction and boasts not one but hundreds of pictures.
“I first opened in December last year and this young family came in to get icecream. The baby looked so happy that I asked the parents if I could take a picture,” she said.
“We have more than 300 now – I haven’t printed them all out.”
She said kids had just saw the pictures and asked if they could join the wall. Josie has so many that’s she’s run out of space and has now bought a digital frame to display them.
“The wall seems to make people happy,” she laughed.
“I’ve even sprinkled it with a few famous faces and animals. I have a picture of Barack Obama eating an ice-cream, I’ve been asked if he’s been here too.”
Josie’s wall has become so popular that she’s turned it into a competition, with one person chosen each week to win a free icecream.
