Santa, school choirs and community heroes were just some of the festivities that occurred at Kmart Tweed City’s Wishing Tree Appeal Launch.
The launch was held last Thursday morning.
Members of the general public attended and supported the appeal.
Santa made an appearance, along with Tweed Shire Council mayor Mr Barry Longland and the local Salvation Army representative Captain Alwyn Robinson.
Other special guests included Genesis Fitness Club and Tweed Heads Public School.
The ceremony included two performances from the Tweed Heads Public School Junior Choir and moving speeches from Kmart Tweed City’s Store Manager Paul Coleman, the 2011 Wishing Tree Champion Alison Coverdale and representatives from Genesis Fitness.
The children from Tweed Heads Public School received vouchers, as a gift from Don Stalker and Jeff Bell from Gold Coast McDonalds.
