Evocities jobs website launch

Armidale’s free Evocities job website was officially launched at the Armidale Golf Club last week by Member for Northern Tablelands Richard Torbay and Cr Herman Beyersdorf.
The Club has been one of the most successful beneficiaries of the new site, attracting three new employees from outside Armidale.
www.armidale-jobs.com.au is linked to the main Evocities website representing inland cities Armidale, Albury, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange, Tamworth and Wagga Wagga as part of the campaign to build population and economic growth.
“This is a great initiative, making the site available free to all employers in Armidale,” Mr Torbay said. “The campaign is aimed principally at the metropolitan market but should gain traction interstate
and overseas.
“So many people want to move out of big cities like Sydney to secure a better lifestyle but the thing that holds them back is finding suitable jobs.
“This website is an excellent way to promote the broad range of jobs Armidale and the other Evocities have to offer and I would urge all employers to make use of it as part of their recruiting strategies.”
Cr Herman Beyersdorf, Chair of Armidale Dumaresq Council’s Economic Development Comm-ittee, is pleased with the success of the Evocities campaign.
“Council has been working on the Evocities Project since 2005 and launched the campaign in September last year. To date we have had over 100,000 visits to the website and we have had a number of families move to Armidale,” said Cr Beyersdorf.
“We have been successful in securing funding from the Commonwealth and NSW Governments as well as corporate sponsors such as the University of New England and Commonwealth Bank. We have many jobs listed on the Armidale Evojobs website and I encourage all employers to place their vacancies on the website and capitalise on the success of the project,” said Cr Beyersdorf.
Kevin Abey, Council’s Economic Development Manager, said placing job vacancies on the EvoJobs website is simple. “Employers can obtain a username and password by contacting Tony Broomfield at Armidale Dumaresq Council on 6770 3876 or email (abroomfield@armidale.nsw.gov.au). Once businesses have their login details, they can manage their vacancies online and at no cost,” said Mr Abey.
