Pottsville gets the community spirit

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas and music is filling the air.
At Pottsville on Friday night, it was time for one of the first Carols by Candlelight of the Christmas season.
The community carols, hosted by Pottsville Beach Public School, are now in their third year and attract a large number of families of all ages to come along and enjoy a sausage sizzle, prepared by the local Lions and Leos and get into the spirit of things.
There were lots of performances by the school’s students – singing and dancing.
The event also marked the first major performance by the school’s new band – which was formed this year. Started by music teacher Nikki Cooper at the school earlier this year, the band has played at some school events and the local nursing home but the carols were their biggest performance to date. Nikki is also responsible for the music program at Kingscliff Primary, which is now in its fourth year.
