Two new selling exhibitions open at the New England Regional Art Museum this week giving art-goers a wonderful opportunity to purchase a new work of art for their home or office.
Well known locals, Matt Pilkington and Pat Elkin, open their exhibitions on October 7 at 6pm. Each artist uses a very different technique to depict their memories and experience of the landscape.
Matt Pilkington’s distinctive artwork is created from weather-beaten timber, iron, old linoleum and discarded materials from old farms and local tips. His new body of work combines his assemblage pieces with stencilling techniques, making each of his artworks unique.
Artist Pat Elkin is well known for her contribution to the local arts and her long involvement with NERAM. Her exhibition entitled Sometimes Birds Fly In refers to Pat’s joy of bird watching and the unpredictable manner in which her paintings change direction, seemingly out of her control. This is when the birds fly in, either for compositional reasons, or just a whimsy.
Everyone is invited, so come along to the opening on Friday, October 7 at 6pm and enjoy a glass of wine and an evening with the artists.
NERAM hours: Tues – Fri 10am to 5pm, Sat and Sun 10am to 4pm. 6772 5255.
