As a resident of the Inverell Shire, my wife and I regularly visit Armidale to fly to Sydney. We spend money during our stay on shopping and sometimes accommodation. During our last visit we spent nearly $1000 while we were there. Asking us to pay for parking at the airport is an insult, and is saying to us we don’t want you in our town, please fly from somewhere else. Most locals would not have to pay to park, it’s only the visitors to Armidale that will have to pay.
I would like to ask the business owners and residents of Armidale if your Council speaks on your behalf? There would be dozens of people from out of town flying from Armidale every week and spending their money in town while there.
The council, if they bring in paid parking, will be driving visitors away and I for one won’t be paying for parking after driving for an hour and a half to get to Armidale. I will take my business elsewhere and fly from Moree. I suggest if you don’t agree with your representatives, you make your feelings known. Your town will lose more money than they will make from this money grab.
