Flood water brings fish swimming in

Tile Trends at Greenway Drive in Tweed Heads had an expected guest during the recent floods – and he was a bit of a stunned mullet.
The heavy rain of two weeks ago meant the little creek behind the business was filled with water and staff and customers were joking that they could go fishing in their own back yards.
But just an hour or so later the joke was on them when staff member Glenn Wright saw movement at the edge of the water and bent down to grab a fish.
Staff member Joy Gurtins said it was a surreal moment to see Glenn standing there with a fish.
“But after it’s misadventure it ended up being one happy mullet when Glenn released it into the Tweed River,” she said.
“We couldn’t really put it back in the water behind the business as it dried up”.
