International best-selling author Cathy Kelly will head to Kingscliff as part of her Australian tour.
Cathy is the latest top author to appear at Babalou on Friday, March 9 at 12.30pm (NSW) thanks to Boardwalk Books at Kingscliff. The event is also a fundraiser for the Tweed River Regional Art Gallery with a $1 from each ticket being donated to the Friends of the Tweed River Regional Art Gallery.
Beloved and bestselling Irish writer and media personality, Cathy Kelly is no stranger to our shores and she’s returning to Australia with her brand-new novel, The House on Willow Street.
She had huge international success with Once in a Lifetime and Homecoming – both, of which reached No. 1 in the UK and the Top 10 in Australia. Her sales have exceeded 16 million copies globally.
Cathy has a huge and growing readership in Australia and her tour program is often a sell out with three generations of family coming along to her events as well as their friends!
She was born in Belfast and after journalism college she worked at one of Ireland’s national Sunday Newspapers. Her career in newspapers included jobs as a film critic, columnist, feature writer and an agony aunt.
These experiences had a huge effect on her writing – many readers say that they love the therapy her books give them – their very own Cathy Kelly time!
Cathy is also an Ambassador for UNICEF Ireland, helping raise awareness for the plight of Children orphaned in Africa through AIDS.
Like her events, Cathy’s books are filled with love, friends, family, optimism, as well as the dilemmas that can rock our everyday life.
In The House on Willow Street there are many family themes, from sibling rivalry, feminism and how attitudes have changed, to the secrets families keep. A couple of the more unusual themes include knitting and hens. In fact she has trained many feathery friends and can “talk Hen”. She once had to demonstrate it on a talk show!
Meet Cathy Kelly, listen to an excerpt from The House on Willow Street, have your book signed, and enjoy some divine finger food and a glass of bubbly for only $25 per ticket – available through Boardwalk Books.
