Bands Battle for a Safer Community

Attention all young bands – are you looking to win great prizes and get your music out to a wider audience? Then the Tweed Battle of the Bands is for you.
The music concert is being organised by the Safer Communities Alliance as part of the Youth Week celebrations.
Secretary for Safer Communities Alliance Kristie Hedley, who is organising the event, said the competition would carry some amazing prizes.
“First prize is three days’ recording at Grid Studios in Byron, a photography/marketing package from Kazmedia, a $500 paid gig at Twin Towns and a trophy,” she said.
“Second prize is one day’s recording at Crystal Grid Studios in Byron, a photography/marketing package from Kazmedia and a trophy; while third prize is a $500 gift voucher for Tweed Heads Music Land and a trophy.
“There are also radio interviews for bands who get their entries in early.”
Heats will be held on Friday, April 1 and Tuesday April 5 at 6pm at the Civic Centre, with the final to be held at the Tweed Civic Centre in Brett Street on Thursday, April 7 also 6pm.
The event is judged by industry members and will be hosted by Fat Albert’s Matt Bruggy.
Entry is $40 and is open to bands, soloists and duos aged 12-25. To enter, head to the facebook site for Tweed Battle of The Bands.
Tickets for the night, sponsored by a wide-range of local business groups and supported by the Tweed Shire Council, are $10.
