A big deal for Holly

When Kingscliff interior design student Holly Brown was looking for the perfect 50th birthday present for mother, she turned to the TV.
She didn’t buy a television for the big occasion instead the 21-year-old, who moved from Tasmania to Kingscliff two years ago to study design, arranged for her mum to go and watch the filming of her favourite show.
The duo flew to Melbourne for a catch up weekend and to be in the audience for the Channel Seven/Prime show “Deal Or No Deal”.
“My mum watches Deal Or No Deal (seen here on Prime) every night,” she laughed.
“We never thought we would get on the show – we were just so excited to go and watch and see it is all done.
“They film five in a day . . . on the third one I was chosen.”
She said the whole idea had been to try and raise the money for her mum’s cruise.
“My mum has been a single mum for a while – I have two little brothers aged nine and 12. She has had a difficult time what with family passing away.”
So what happens?
Well we can’t tell you although Holly said there was plenty of excitement and a surprise or two along the way.
Holly said she had formulated a plan before she was chosen (never expecting to actually make it to the podium). However it all went out of her mind the moment she stepped up next to host Andrew O’Keefe.
The episode (filmed back in November) finally goes to air on Friday (March 2) and while all of Holly’s family (including her mother, brothers and grandfather) will be getting together, Holly will be otherwise engaged.
“I’m working at Mercedes Benz Robina when it’s on,” she laughed.
