I am continually astounded by the debate about an appropriate response to Climate Change and our pollution of our environment. The Liberal Party is being particularly dishonest with their chest thumping fear mongering.
A couple of small reminders of former Coalition policy would see Tony Abbott publicly supporting putting a price on carbon. Tony Abbott has previously indicated his support for a carbon price on fuel. The opposition climate change shadow minister wrote a thesis explaining why a market-based response to climate change was the most appropriate course of action and even conservatives like John Howard supported a carbon pricing mechanism.
I am all for a public debate on climate change but it has to be honest. Tony Abbott has taken the Coalition into a dishonourable escape, attacking policies and ideas that they have publically and academically supported. There is no comment on their aboutface. There is no criticism of their fear-mongering and they are allowed to get away with it. We should be rejecting their hypocritical approach to politics.
