NECOM to receive funding boost

The New England Conservatorium of Music is set to receive over $69,000 of funding from the NSW Government’s Regional Conservatorium Program.
“I am proud to announce that the New England Conservatorium of Music will receive $40,644 for the 2012 Chamber Music Festival, with a further $28,900 directed towards the New England Sings! concert for the commission and presentation of two work,” said Duty MLC for Northern Tablelands, Sarah Mitchell.
“Importantly, this funding will bring visitors from surrounding regions to the Northern Tablelands in order to see first-hand the exceptional festivals and concerts that will be on offer.
“The 2012 Chamber Music Festival will see a professional chamber music ensemble visit Armidale to work with local musicians and take part in workshops, open rehearsals and a series of in-house and public concerts.
“The funding will also showcase two works from emerging Australian composers to be presented at the New England Sings! concert series.”
