Arts North West, in partnership with Metroscreen, will host a Transmedia Skills Development Workshop in Armidale on December 6, 7 and 8.
“Transmedia uses a combination of media technologies and storytelling techniques,” said Jane Kreis, Regional Arts Development Officer at Arts North West.
“This is a fantastic, creative opportunity for storytellers and communicators who want to maximise their use of new technologies.
“This workshop will introduce us to ways that we can engage an audience – simultaneously conveying aspects of a fictional story, factual event or cultural experience using a range of technologies and techniques.”
Transmedia immerses the audience in the story. It uses different media platforms – print, DVD, TV, web, live events, cinema, video games, mobile, social media, music and animation.
The Metro Screen Transmedia Skills Development workshop is an intensive three-day course designed specifically to train participants in the tools and techniques of Transmedia production.
Experienced Transmedia pro-fessional, Jian Chiao, will present and facilitate the workshop, providing hands-on training in all facets of Transmedia production. He will also assist each participant to develop their own project.
“Thanks to the great support of Screen NSW, these workshops are heavily subsidised,” Dr Kreis said.
“Arts North West jumped to partner in this course because we felt it was such a valuable opportunity for our region. Usually these workshops would cost participants $2000 but, through the generosity of all the organisations involved, New England North West participants can take up this particular course for $90, or $45 for students.”
The Transmedia Skills Development Workshop will be held at the New England Institute of TAFE (Armidale Campus) from 9am until 5pm from Tuesday, December 6 until Thursday, December 8. Numbers are strictly limited.
