Cinema turns on the classics

Cinemax Arthouse Cinema, Kingscliff is turning back time to an era when musicals were grand and didn’t have to star Zac Effron to get wide release.
To celebrate Seniors Week across the Tweed, Stephen and Deborah Buge have turned their charming little cinema over to a seniors week festival each morning session (one session a day) from Sunday March 18 through to Sunday, March 25.
The event “the Young at Heart” Festival kicks off (excuse the pun) with The Red Shoes at 10am on Sunday, March 18 and then features My Fair Lady on Monday at 9.45am, That’s Entertainment on Tuesday at 10.30am, Dial M for Murder on Wednesday at 10.45am, High Society at 10.30am on Thursday, That’s Entertainment again on Friday at 10.30am, Calamity Jane on Saturday at 10.30am and winds up with Singin’ in the Rain at 10.30am on Sunday, March 25.
At the heart of the event will be the Young @ Heart Film Festival, short film competition on Wednesday, 9.30am. It is a chance to come and vote for a short film directed and or acted in by a person over 60. The morning will start with a choral tribute of showtunes sung live in the foyer at 9am.
