Bundarra fundraiser this weekend

Bundarra is small in size but big in heart. The proof will once again be evident this Saturday at Rose and Geoff Higgins’ Commercial Hotel, with the second annual fundraising event for the Grace Munro Nursing Home, which celebrated its centenary last June.
The nursing home, which was threatened with closure in 2010, means a great deal to Bundarra and locals are keen to get together and show their support. Over $4300 was raised last year.
This time, organisers are aiming for the ten thousand mark. They are already well on their way, with local mining companies chipping in $2800.
The Fat Mexicans Support Club will add to the fundraising atmosphere with a bike show and custom made trophies for the occasion.
The fundraiser will serve up a spit-roast feast and live music from local band, “The Green Onions’. There will be trade stalls and even a tattoo artist.
A charity auction will have big-ticket items up for grabs, including a $400 outdoor setting, donated by Bunnings, Inverell. Two holidays will also go under the hammer, one to Port Macquarie and the other donated by the White Albatross at Nambucca.
Co-organiser, Glen Gleeson said Uralla, Invergowrie and Armidale residents are more than welcome to the party, commencing from 5pm Saturday.
“We’d appreciate any support from our neighbouring communities for Grace Munro Nursing Home. It’s a guaranteed great night out.”
According to Mr Gleeson, the Bundarra district boasts a relaxed, sociable community that unites in force for a good cause.
