Guided afternoon tours of the Tweed River Art Gallery will soon start one hour earlier, to get the most out of the gallery experience.
Beginning Wednesday, June 20, the free tours, which are available on Wednesdays and Sundays, will start at 2pm, rather than the current time of 3pm.
Gallery director Susi Muddiman said the change would allow visitors to get the most out of their time in the gallery.
“We have had some terrific feedback from our visitors that have joined our tours,” Miss Muddiman said.
“Changing the afternoon tours to the earlier time of 2pm for winter will enable people to join our afternoon exhibition tour and still get home before dark.”
The tours range from 30 minutes to one hour in duration and cover a general introduction to the gallery, a preamble to current exhibitions and information on some of the key artworks from the collection.
Tours are run by trained volunteers who also host booked tours as required for school and other groups, providing information on the history of the gallery, along with information and insight into traditional and contemporary art practice.
While the tours are free and no bookings are required, a gold coin donation towards the Gallery’s operations is always appreciated.
