Around 70 shooters nominated for Guyra’s two day open trap shoot on Feb 25 and 26. They had to overcome cool, overcast and windy conditions on Saturday, with slightly improved weather on Sunday. One highlight was the NSW Deauville Doubles Championship that was contested on Saturday afternoon.
The opening event, a 25 Target cash divide was taken out by Henry Phillip with 41/41. The Grade results are as follows: AA Grade 1st Ian McDonald 40/41; AA Grade 2nd Geoff Field 33/41; A Grade 1st Luke Kirkby 25/26; A Grade 2nd Tyson Kennedy 30/31 ; B Grade 1st Scott Brerton 25/27 ; B Grade 2nd Mick Wilkins 25/27; C Grade 1s Rebecca Green 20/25; C Grade 2nd Leah Beaumont18/25.
The challenging Single Barrel Championship was won by Steven Kilfoyle (Grafton) with a score of 34/35. The Grade winners were: AA Grade 1st Doug Makin33/34; AA Grade 2nd Kim Nealon 32/33; A Grade 1st Scott Smith 29/30; A Grade 2nd Robert Dial 25/26; B Grade 1st David Mills 23/25; B Grade 2nd Scott Brerton 22/25; C Grade 1st Harry Jarratt 19/25; C Grade 2nd Rebecca Green14/25.
Saturday’s third event was the 50 Target Double Barrel Super Trap. The shoot off went on for some time before Geoff Field prevailed with a very good break of 112/112. The Grade results read: AA Grade 1st Glen Anderson 111/112; AA Grade 2nd Terry Rogers 94/95; A Grade 1st Scott Smith 59/60; A Grade 2nd Roger Carrigan 62/63; B Grade 1st Jenny Haynes 49/50; B Grade 2nd Therese Nealon 48/50; C Grade 1st Harry Jarratt 40/50; C Grade 2nd Leah Beaumont 39/50.
Event Four was the NSW Deauville Doubles Championship shot off 22m. The pair of Mark Formaggin, (Lismore) and Steve Kilfoyle, (Grafton) shot the only 20/20 possible to win the Championship. Clyde Mitchell and Kim Nealon scored 32/33 in the shoot off for second place.
Event Five, on Sunday morning, was the 25 Target Hiscox Handicap. Dubbo’s Peter Fitzalan shot the only 30/30 possible to win the event. A further five shooters contested the shoot off for second to fifth with Steven Kilfoyle taking second with 38/39, Tim Bourke third, 37/39, Kevin Bourke fourth, 36/38 and Roger Carrigan fifth, 33/35.
The 30 Target Point Score Championship was won by Geoff Baxter with a great 114/114. The grade results are as follows: AA Grade 1st Geoff Field 113/114; AA Grade 2nd John Kent 110/111; A Grade 1st Luke Kirkby 88/90; A Grade 2nd Scott Smith 114/117; B Grade 1st Megan Wilkins 85/90; B Grade 2nd Jim Lenehan 83/90; C Grade 1st Harry Jarratt 77/90; C Grade 2nd Leah Beaumont 71/90.
The final event, the 30 Target Continental Championship, was won by Peter Fitzalan shooting 40/40. The following shooters took the spoils in their grades: AA Grade 1st Tammy Henshall 39/40; AA Grade 2nd Justin Turner 30/31; A Grade 1st Ralph Larkings 31/31; A Grade 2nd Luke Kirkby 30/31; B Grade 1st Mick Wilkins 29/30; B Grade 2nd John Smith 29/33; C Grade 1st Leah Beaumont 22/30; C Grade 2nd Harry Jarratt 20/30.
The Overall High Gun went to Geoff Field with 245. The Grade High Gun winners were: AA – Steve Kilfoyle 241; A – Robert Dial 262; B – Mick Wilkins 222; C – Harry Jarratt 201; Vets Peter Fitzalan 236; Juniors Ethan Dial 233; Ladies Tammy Henshall 222.
