Today (Thursday, June 28) marks one year since the release of the official ‘Analysis of Public Submissions’ regarding a proposed caravan park and residential estate on beachfront Crown Land at Cabarita Beach/Bogangar.
This means that a full twelve months have now passed since there has been any public statement from the proponents.
There has not been so much as a squeak of spin since that report cited significant environmental, social and financial concerns and confirmed massive community opposition to the proposals (90 per cent of submissions were opposed to both developments). And the silence continued after those findings were supported by Griffith University research that also showed 80 per cent of local businesses are opposed to both developments.
But don’t be fooled by the blundering of bureaucrats at Tweed Coast Holiday Parks Reserve Trust (Tweed Shire Council) and Crown Lands (NSW State Govt) because these white shoe-wannabes are still secretly scheming to foist their cockamamie developments upon us again when they think the time is ripe.
I urge all concerned residents to make sure that your candidate of choice in the upcoming Tweed Shire Council election opposes these unwanted and unnecessary developments and instead, supports the community-based projects that are already being successfully implemented by the Cabarita Beach/Bogangar Community and Economic Development Committee.
