Mayor to stand again

Tweed Shire Mayor Cr Barry Longland at the Kingscliff Chamber of Commerce breakfast this week at Cudgen Headland Surf Club.

Mayor Barry Longland will stand for council again at the Tweed Shire elections in September.
“For too long there have been extremes in our council that tend to work against good outcomes for the shire. There is a community expectation that we provide the leadership for sustainable progress that will build our shire and protect our natural assets,” said Mayor Barry Longland.
Ending speculation, Mayor Longland announced this week that he will be a motivated and committed candidate in the upcoming election on September 8.
“With the experience of the past four years, I believe I can bring stability and balance to the new council and a vision for a prosperous future for our beautiful valley.”
Cr Longland will be having a formal campaign launch with his team for this election at the end of this month.
