Kingscliff Lions Club have been busy hosting two visiting students from overseas under the Lions Youth Exchange Scheme.
The two 18-year-olds, Sannamari Jokihaara,  from Finland, and Sara Bettinelli, from Italy are in Australia for six weeks and have been hosted by various Lions Clubs including a stop-over here on the coast.
On Sunday the students were entertained at an Aussie barbecue in Kingscliff with sausages and pavlova and were introduced to the strange sports of cricket and thong throwing.
The visitors have been enjoying their stay and have talked about how much their English has improved with practice and the inclusion of a little local colour according to Lions Club member Euan Walker.
“They will now spend some days on the Gold Coast and then attend youth camps in North Queensland before returning home.”
