‘Uninhibited’, the exhibition, has enjoyed an exciting, challenging and rewarding history.
Previously exhibiting under Tweed Valley Respite Service, ‘Uninhibited’ first came to light in 2004 at the Coolamon Centre, Murwillumbah as part of the City of the Arts Program.
In 2007 ‘Uninhibited’ was exhibited again at the Escape Gallery, Murwillumbah. Both exhibitions were a great success on their own merit, enjoying an enthusiastic public response with a high percentage of sales.
In 2012, Lifebridge East Inc in conjunction with the generous support of Coastal Framing and Design are proud to present ‘Uninhibited’, the latest body of work in this exciting exhibition series. The exhibition will be held at Coastal Framing and Design’s Gallery 4/25 Industry Drive, South Tweed Heads from August 1 to August 25.
In 2010 the art students entered ‘Colour my World’ a competition hosted by Challenge Disability Services, Tamworth NSW. This is a NSW state wide competition open to all artists with a disability, offering a first prize of $350, three celebration prizes of $150 and five encouragement awards of $50 each.
The works of 150 Finalists are hung in the Challenge Art Exhibition, Ray Walsh Gallery, Tamworth throughout November and December.
Of 15 entries submitted 10 were chosen as finalists. We were thrilled and proud to be awarded first prize plus an encouragement award. An unexpected pleasure!
On the back of that success, they entered again in 2011. From 14 entries, eight were chosen as finalists. With much excitement and great pride, the artists continued to excel, winning first place (again!), two celebration prizes and an encouragement award (again!).
A huge achievement for all involved.
The art room will be participating with Challenge again with great enthusiasm in 2012, silently hoping for repeated success.
Regardless of the final outcome however, we must remember that creating work constantly up to exhibition and competition standard is in itself a great achievement for each of our art students.
“Working through emotional intelligence, the artists of Lifebridge East Inc explore many avenues of self-expression,” Art Tutor Kathryn Cleland said.
“Through exploration and discovery, each artist creates their own unique visual dialogue, often capturing a free and charismatic naivety, which in turn is open to interpretation by the viewer.
“Drawing out from deep within, the process of art can be transformational. A journey of self discovery, art heals and invigorates, communicates and excites. I believe the power of art creates a pathway to the development of individual potential.
“Gail Rich, Lisa O’Leary and myself take privilege in being able to encourage, challenge and motivate this potential in our art students, inspiring some wonderful emerging talent.”
