It has been described as “speeding dating for job hunters and employers” and it’s coming to Tweed on Wednesday, August 8.
Proving very successful in regions all over Australia, the Australian Government Jobs and Skills Expo rolls into the Tweed Heads PCYC next week.
The PCYC will be transformed into a one-stop jobs and skills marketplace, where hundreds of jobs and skills training opportunities will be available on the day for local job seekers and it’s all free.
More than 40 local, state and national businesses, employment service providers, private recruitment agencies and registered skills training organisations will be on hand for an expected crowd of up to 1500.
A variety of exhibitors such as Transit Australia, Commonwealth Bank, Tweed Shire Council, James Frizelle Group, Victory Ford, ACE Community College, Kingscliff TAFE, Northern Rivers Group Training and MEGT, as well as a number of mining related organisations and training providers to assist job seekers with pathways to the mining industry.
And it’s not just for the young either with jobseekers from 16 to 60 plus encouraged to come along and really see what is out there for them, it’s also a chance for employers to directly reach those people looking for work.
Federal Member for Richmond Justine Elliot said the local business community has rallied behind the Jobs and Skills Expo.
“The expo will be a ‘one-stop jobs and skills marketplace’, bringing employers, employment service providers, labour and recruitment agencies as well as registered training providers together with other agencies, all under one roof, all on one day,” Justine said..
