Riders flock to dressage competition

The Armidale Riding Club Official Dressage Competition held in Armidale last Sunday saw a big turnout of competitors. It was the largest one day competition held by the Armidale Riding Club for several years with almost 100 horses entered.
Riders came from across the region and beyond for a full day of competition at the Armidale Equestrian Centre. Local riders did extremely well against strong competition. There was also a strong turnout of junior riders.
Armidale locals won both the “Preliminary” events with S Berry on Murphy (1B) and H Blackmen on K Reflections (1C.) topping the rankings. The “Novice” events were likewise taken out by an Armidale rider A Haddad on Statford De Niro and Nickleback (2B & 2C). The “Elementary” events saw A Sozou (another Armidale rider) on Marcello take out the 3B and E Pitt the 3C on Cavallo Park Apollo. In the “Medium” events D McKenzie on All At Sea (4B) and A Sozou on Flowervale Ferro Eve (4C) were winners. The “Advanced” events were won by R Cairns on Southern Cross Aquila (5B) and G Green on Prince of Pleasure (5C).
Winners of the Pony Dressage events were I Ritter on Tennessee Whiskey for “Preliminary” events (1B & 1C), B Wilson on Janevelyn Just A Babe (2B) and C McPhie on Howitzer (2C) for the “Novice” events and A Dunn on CP Empress for “Elementary” (3B).
Many of the successful riders from the event are aiming to nominate (and potentially qualify) for the State Dressage Championships held later in the year.
This event is one of many held by the Armidale Riding Club which is a not for profit community based club. Throughout the year the club holds training days and competitions. Visit www.armidalerc.equestrian.org.au for further details.
