Baa Baas bury Robb

Rugby Union is alive and well in Armidale, with a bumper crowd turning out for the first home game for the UNE Barbarians at their new ground, aptly titled “Alcatraz’.
The Baa Baas matched it up against Robb College in Round 2 action, with the first half producing all the points for the Baa Baas who went on to win 27 to 20.
Baa Baas coach, Sam Piddington, was pleased with his side’s performance, however still believes they need to improve more if they are to have a chance at the title.
“It was a good tough game of footy; Robb is always very tough at the breakdown, so our forwards had to step up and lay the platform for the backs,” Sam said.
“We had a solid first half, scoring all our points and went into the second half in front; we really had to dig deep and defend well, with a few injuries to key players making it tough going.
In the other first grade game, the Armidale Blues narrowly defeated St Albert’s College 33-29 in a game that also had a big crowd in attendance.
