Olympic spirit comes to Tweed

The Tweed Valley Equestrian Group held their Official Dressage Championships on the weekend.
The perfect weather made for a fantastic weekend of a superb combinations of horses and riders competing at seven different levels of dressage.
The grounds were in top condition and, for the first time, all four arenas were sand dressed.
The club was very pleased to receive many compliments from the riders, saying how much they enjoyed riding on this surface. Potted purple (the club’s colour) chrysanthemums gave the arenas that special finishing touch.
The Tweed Equestrian Saddlery provided a beautiful VIP area on the verandah of the Showground Building for guests to sit in comfort, on white decorated chairs, at white clothed tables with a cuppa or nice glass of wine. The atmosphere was in keeping with that of the Olympics and was so special that already next year’s Official Dressage Championships are in the planning.
As well as local riders, a number of well known dressage riders competed. This was quite an education for those wanting to view some high quality dressage, and they didn’t let the spectators down, with onlookers responding with cheers and applause.
The winners on the weekend were well rewarded, with prize money and showrugs sponsored by Tweed Equestrian Murwillumbah Saddlery.
