Looking back, I would have to say that the freely made decision to marry the love of my life was the most significant and momentous commitment I have ever made. To make this institution a cause celebre on the grounds of gender is, to put it bluntly, beyond the powers invested in any individual, including our prime minister.
I see the only logical solution to this impasse would be creating a new Portfolio; The Ministry of Love where the following controversial issues could be debated.
1) Revisiting the criminal standing of sexual heterodoxy.
2) Whether the state of love is possible between persons of the same sex.
3) If conditions one and two are found to be wrong-headed or illegal, then whether the police or other law enforcing bodies have the right of law to use surveillance devices in the bedrooms of the nation.
4) Whether persons of the same sex who have married overseas should, on their return, be kept in detention as illegals until their sins of commission are psychiatrically rectified.
5) Should our Prime Minister love God before being allowed to occupy Yarralumla.
6) Should only one who is married in the eyes of God be allowed to occupy Yarralumla.
7) Should some form of arbitration be required for those of unclear sexual identity, maybe requiring physical examination before a wedding can take place.
8) Whether gay and lesbian couples be separated by law, being harmful to the state.
I would hope to see Lewis Carroll nominated as Minister of Love to maintain the standards our esteemed PM is setting. The problem is I don’t see the humour in my own joke. The discrimination being supported by Ms Gillard simply makes me sick.
