Busy weekend for firies

A timber shed completely destroyed by fire in the back yard of a west Beardy Street property on Saturday night, three grass fires, the first on Long Swamp Road (around 11am on Sunday), Beardy Street near the A1 Storage Sheds (around 4.30pm on Sunday) and Donnelly Street (around 2.30pm on Sunday) as well as a car fire in Golgotha Street (around 11pm on Sunday) kept Fire & Rescue crews busy over the weekend.
Neighbours of the west Beardy Street shed blaze attempted to contain the fire with a garden hose over the back fence.
The fierce but compact blaze was undeterred by their efforts, consuming the structure.
Armidale Police and Firefighters attended the fire.
The cause of the fire is not known. A resident of the premises said that there was no electricity to the shed.
