Women in Voice

Rock, opera, soul, disco and pop will collide on Saturday, September 8 when Women in Voice take main stage at The Arts Centre Gold Coast.
Women in Voice is a phenomenon – a courageous concept of showcasing talented female vocalists in an upfront, uncomplicated manner that results in one of the liveliest, funniest and most professional music theatre shows Brisbane has ever produced.
A collection of Queensland’s finest, most versatile performers have come together including Alison St Ledger, Lil’ Fi, Kacey Patrick-Bare, and Melissa Western.
Their voices are complemented by guest performers Helen Russell (double bass), Jamie Clark (guitar), Steve Russell (keyboard) and John Parker (percussion).
From humble beginnings in Brisbane’s West End, to large-scale productions at Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Sydney’s Star City Showroom, Women in Voice has had an impressive journey featuring many legendary artists over the years. Alison St Ledger
Alison St Ledger is one of Queensland’s finest and most versatile singer songwriters. She is best known for her involvement in Women in Voice and a Cappella group The Flannelettes. She has given critically acclaimed performances at the Brisbane Cabaret Festival including The A-Z of Cabaret and the Matilda Award-winning Tom Waits for No Man.
Lil’ Fi
Lil’ Fi is a dynamic entertainer with a unique song writing style and has been proudly performing her original Australian roots/blues music for over 18 years. Lil’ Fi has been the convener of the Ladies Sing The Blues Festival in Brisbane for 10 years and is a co-founder of the Flannelettes and the East-Coast Queen Bees.
Kacey Patrick-Bare
Kacey’s three-octave range is a rare instrument capable of expressing profound emotion. She has the rare ability to create vocal sound-scapes where her voice is both a melodic and percussive instrument. Kacey is best known for her performances with stringmansassy and The Saruzu Quartet.
Melissa Western
A Brisbane girl who honed her skills at RADA (London) and Broadway Dance Centre (New York), Melissa is a stunning, soulful performer who straddles the worlds of jazz, cabaret and theatre. She has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Brisbane Cabaret Festival, Speigeltent, Woodford Folk Festival and many more.
