GP Super Clinic work begins

Andrew Armstrong, Dr Di Blankensee, Justine Elliot MP and Dr Austin Stern celebrate the start of work.

Construction started this week on the long-awaited $7 million GP Super Clinic at Tweed Heads South, to be run by a group of local GPS.
Federal member for Richmond Justine Elliot welcomed the start of construction of the Tweed Heads GP Super Clinic to be located at Corporation Circuit, Tweed Heads South.
This milestone delivers on Justine’s election commitment to deliver $7 million for a GP Super Clinic in the Tweed Heads region.
The successful applicant to deliver and run the GP Super Clinic, Ausjendia Pty Ltd, is an outstanding group of local GPs with extensive experience in our community Justine said.
“Locals asked for better health services before the last election and I’m pleased this service is closer to reality with the start of construction.  The GP Super Clinic will deliver better access for health services in a single, convenient location,” she said.
The new clinic will provide services from general practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals.
The clinic will also have a strong emphasis on education for medical, nursing and allied health students.
“The GP Super Clinic has received strong community support. This service will help take the pressure off the very busy Tweed Hospital, it will deliver better local access to integrated health services, and it will provide construction jobs over the coming months.” said Justine.
This $7 million in funding is part of the more than $1.2 billion that Justine has delivered for local roads, schools, health and community resources.
