Enjoying an early father’s day

St Anthony’s Catholic Primary school at Kingscliff got an early start to Father’s Day last week and we do mean “early”.
The school held its second annual Father’s Day breakfast on Thursday morning with some dads coming in as early as 7am to enjoy a free bacon and egg roll with their kids before a day at work.
“We got more than 100 dads this year,” St Anthony’s deputy principal Mick Kennedy said as he surveyed the line-up for the rolls, coffee, tea, fruit and fruit juice (dad’s were free and kids paid just a $1 for their food).
“Our staffed prepared the barbecue and it was a good opportunity to get together.
“All the kids really love bringing their dads here.
“It was well up on last year, we probably expected to get 50 or 60 but it is well over 100, we might run out of rolls at this rate,” he laughed.
Later in the day the school (as with many in the Tweed) held a father’s day stall, allowing the kids to spend their own money on the perfect small gift for dad.
