Buffalo Soldier in the heart of Murwillumbah

The award winning director Kevin Macdonald’s latest film is a biography of the musical legend Bob Marley.
Released worldwide just a few months ago this documentary has received universal praise as a true and gritty account of the life of Marley, warts and all.
Made with the approval and support of Marley’s surviving family members the film delves into the personal life of the musician, through interviews with fellow musicians, friends, colleagues and relatives. And of course, it presents some great archival footage of the musical master in action producing the music that introduced reggae to a generation of fans.
Macdonald has dug deep into Marley’s personal story. He reveals that it was not commercial success that drove Marley, but a humanistic outlook on life driven by his Rasta beliefs. The film exposes a raw Marley, a gentle and genuine man, but not without flaws.
Macdonald is better known as a feature film maker with successes such as State of Play and The Last King of Scotland. But he has also produced some highly successful non-fiction films such as Touching the Void, and this epic documentary on the life of one of the most influential musicians of our time is going to further cement his reputation as a major non-fiction film maker.
