Tweed River High School students Elsie Rampling, Alana Haynes and Nathan Blaszczak have taken off to take on the Kokoda Challenge in Papua New Guinea.
The teenagers are a part of the Tweed Heads team who have been training for the past four months.
“I was inspired to apply for the Challenge back when I was in Year 7” an excited Elsie explained.
“We listened to some of our students recount their trip and what they had learnt about the track.
“My sister Sarah completed the challenge last year and said it was a life-changing experience and I want to experience it for myself.”
Nathan and Alana were also both looking forward to working with the community as part of their commitment to the program.
“We’ve learned so much and really appreciate this opportunity,” explained Alana.
This is the fourth year that students from Tweed River High School have been involved in the Kokoda Youth Challenge.
We wish Elsie, Alana and Nathan all the best and look forward to catching up with them next term to hear of their experiences.
