Fiona Simson will lead NSW Farmers’ Association for the next 12 month period following her re-election as president last week.
She was elected unopposed at NSW Farmers’ annual conference at the Concourse in Chatswood, Sydney.
Ms Simson is a farmer from the Liverpool Plains where she and her husband Ed run a 5500 hectare mixed farming enterprise, including broad acre farming and commercial and stud poll Hereford cattle.
She holds a Bachelor degree in Arts/Business and has tertiary qualifications in workplace training and adult education. Ms Simson was first elected president of NSW Farmers in 2011 on a platform of renewal, excellence and inclusiveness.
“I am very passionate about ensuring a strong future for agriculture, maintaining a strong and united voice for our members and ensuring we are heard and taken into account at all levels of government,” she said.
“I look forward to continuing to work with members and key stakeholders to ensure that farmers have a sustainable future in NSW and consumers have a reliable supply of quality food and fibre.”
