Again we are on the brink of another winter. I can’t help wondering how many people will be going through winter again this year without any heating, as the cost of paying for heating is beyond their means. While we are all aware of Global Warming and the reasons for keeping our CO2 emissions down, feeling “all warm and fuzzy about doing the right thing for the atmosphere” isn’t going to keep one warm. I’m sure our politicians in Canberra don’t “sit” in an unheated Parliament House, nor do they go home to un-heated homes. So why don’t “they” care about the people who vote them in and pay their wages? Perhaps it’s time for a whole town, whether you can afford heating or not, to join forces in writing to the Government about this issue. Then praying “they” might listen. We should think about pensioners, disabled people, mums at home with smalll children, people on low incomes, people who are ill, sitting shivering through winter without affordable heating and, as a community, at least try to find a solution. Please pick up your pens, turn on your computers and write to the Government. Kirsty Stewart
