Project blooming at Cabarita

Karen Anderson, Peita Gardiman, Annie Pollard and Faye Nash – the executive pod.

Cabarita Community Garden had a huge make over this week, with more than 15 volunteers working all day to implement the garden design created by Dan Plummer. Christian Ellis, the local landscaper, led the day expertly. Thanks to donations from residents, materials have trickled in. Paul, the local chemist, donated some corrugated iron which magically turned into four above-ground garden beds.
A neighbour carried down an old tin garden bed. Baths were saved from the old Youth Centre and are now happily in-ground, ready to be planted. Weeding and pruning shaped the edges of the garden, which is now waiting for some donations of fruit trees. Bogangar Public School are very supportive.  They donated the grounds, storage shed, tank and provided a new gate.
Cabarita Sports Club have not only sponsored some future works, but they hosted a BBQ lunch for the workers.
Chook or goat poo is most desirable so, if anyone has some, or old tools, the group would be happy to pick them up.
Anyone can join the group for $25 and get a garden plot to plant out or just become a member of the garden for $10.  This entitles the member to some of the produce. Contact Faye Nash (Treasurer) to join or donate materials (0407 831 370) or look at the web site www.facebook/cabaritacommunity garden.
