The AYO Brass Quintet will visit Armidale on Tuesday, August 14 from 7.00pm at the New England Conservatorium of Music to perform a special concert for local audiences and students from the region.
The AYO Regional Residencies program is an opportunity for the AYO Brass Quintet to grow as professional chamber musicians and provide communities, who would not be able to attend metropolitan concerts, an opportunity to enjoy the experience of chamber music.
“The AYO belongs to everyone throughout Australia and we have this fantastic opportunity to connect with the community in the north-west region,” said Colin Cornish, Australian Youth Orchestra CEO.
“We have an excellent perform-ance to share and we hope to inspire other young musicians.”
For the audience, the concert provides the chance to engage with music on a more intimate scale. To develop understanding of chamber playing, individual instruments and new repertoire are also explored.
AYO Regional Residencies Tutor, Brett Favell, will lead the musicians in a program that will include a world premiere of a new work by Australian composer Phil Jameson.
The AYO Brass Quintet will be resident at the New England Conservatorium of Music and will participate in the Conservatorium’s wide ranging program from August 9-19.
