It’s been a long time in the planning, but last week, the Tweed Coast finally got its own SES Unit – based in Pottsville.
The group was officially launched at its headquarters in Centennial Drive, Pottsville, near the fire station.
“It’s been a long road but to see it all come to fruition has been really wonderful,” new group controller Kristine McDonald said.
“We have had a base of 10 members and, with the recent recruitment drive (attending the Pottsville Community Markets over the last two months) each 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, we have proudly had another 10 members join the NSW SES Tweed Coast unit, bringing the number to approx 20.
“We have our brand new building and three-bay shed for our vehicle, storm trailer and flood boat.”
