Kingscliff may be a small coastal village but we sure know how to party and raise money.
Every year for the past five years, Kim Telling and her daughters and their school friend have joined together to raise money for cancer through their own Girls Night In. Now this isn’t any ordinary girls night in (which you’d know if you’d ventured out before). This is the women of the Tweed Coast coming together at Cudgen Leagues Club to raise money for Breast Cancer research and wear pink and have a heck of a lot of fun.
And this year was no exception. In fact, the 186 ladies put $13,232 in the bank for the Cancer Council – the most money raised by any event on the Far North Coast.
“It smashed our goal of $11,000 and brings our total for the five years at the club to more than $50,000,” Kim said.
“We were the top event on the Far North Coast, although we have discovered we were only $300 behind an event in Sydney for the State title.
“It’s a great effort for a small town and we have already had a lot of positive feedback, with everybody already planning for next year.”
The night also featured a performance by the amazing Mandy Nolan, as well as receiving a lot of support from businesses across the Tweed for auction items and prizes.
