The event attracted 61 riders from 21 clubs demonstrating the depth of showjumping across northern NSW. Zones 5, 8, 9, 13 and 15 were all represented making for some competitive jumping across the weekend.
NEGS Pony Club was represented by nine riders; Shaina Berry, Hilary Blackman, Megan Bourke, Dominique Holley, Rhianna Malone, Meagan Nolan, Emily Scrivener, Austin Scrivener and Anna Campbell. Emily Scrivener was named Champion A Grade Under 17 Years in what was an extremely tight battle with Alex Seery of Gravesend Pony Club. Both riders finished the weekend on 44 points, but with Grand Prix placings taken into consideration Emily was named champion for this grade. Shaina Berry was named Reserve Champion C Grade Under 17 Years, clinching the title with two great results on Sunday. Shaina finished with a total of 29 points for the weekend, behind an impressive weekend of riding by Lachlan Wicks of Macleay District Pony Club. In a perfect score Lachlan finished with 50 points riding ‘Pharaoh’ competing in the Under 17 Years C Grade, and rode superb rounds all weekend. Claiming ten points for each win, Lachlan finished the weekend with 50 points, over 20 points clear of the next competitor in his grade. Lachlan not only had the highest pointscore in C Grade, but he had the highest pointscore of the Championships. Fellow Macleay rider, Associate A Grader Fiona Casey was not far behind with a score of 49 points, winning four of her five events and placing second in the fifth.  Alicia Seery of Gravesend Pony Club had the third highest pointscore of the Championships with 45 points, followed by four riders on 44 points — Siobhan O’Mara (Coffs Harbour), Alex Seery (Gravesend), Emily Scrivener (NEGS) and Kimberley Hatchman (Macleay).
The NEGS Pony Club 2012 Showjumping Championships incorporated the selection of the 2013 Area 3 Showjumping Team. After two days of jumping the following riders made the team: Emily Scrivener (NEGS PC); Alex Seery (Gravesend PC); Petrea Guiana (Nambucca River PC) and Shenise Guiana (Nambucca River PC).
NEGS Pony Club Secretary Megan Scrivener has been pleased with the terrific feedback they have received from visitors and riders to the event.
“We had a terrific event with excellent weather and we have had some great feedback for our first event,” said Megan.
“The new facilities were amazing especially when we ran late and had to put the lights on which created a terrific atmosphere for the riders and spectators.
“This is the first event that NEGS Pony Club has hosted since the club reformed in December last year.”
